Wisdom is the core of our successful existence if we want to survive and reach our goals or visions in life. But many a time, we ignore that which is paramount for us to succeed in life —wisdom and go after self exaltation, money and arrogance. Eventually, we tumble and fail to achieve our destinies and goals. The Scripture says the fear of God is the the beginning of wisdom, and wisdom is to depart from evil. That means we must avoid evil, or anything that lures us to do evil or wickedness. Stay completely away from sin as a child of God.
It could be anything: lies, cheating, killing, envy, stealing, adultery, fornication, child abusers, unforgiving spirit, etc. You will never have peace committing these sins. The Scripture says:. There is no peace saith the Lord to the wicked. The struggle over sin is deep, real and furious. The only reason Jesus came to earth was to deliver humanity from sin. Sin is inherent in humans. We are born in sin.here
The Fear of the Lord Is the Beginning of Wisdom
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans For the good that I would, I do not, but the evil which I would not, I do. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man. But I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from the body of this death.
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh, the law of sin. Here was one of the most learned and brilliant men in his time, whose vision set the Christian faith on the path to deliver the Gentiles from sin, but was extremely violent and destructive before his conversion, struggling over sin. The struggle to overcome sin is a fierce battle.
We call it "addiction" in our society.
Paul surrendered to God through the power of the Holy Spirit and got freedom over sin. By the deeds of the law shall no man be justified before God. We are all tainted with sin through the fall of Adam. That was why God sent His son to bear our sins and give us a new nature that overcomes sin. So you see, any one piece of knowledge does not exist by itself, but is part of a larger web of knowledge. Any one piece of knowledge will lead you to so many others.
So, going back to the question of design—where can that take you, or is it just a point of termination? If the search for knowledge ends with the knowledge that something is designed, then in what way is it knowledge? Useful knowledge should fully participate in the web of knowledge and not exist merely as an item of trivia. So how can such ideas usefully contribute to the web of knowledge? In other words, if we find evidence for God and then we stop, we have stopped at the beginning rather than at the end.
Instead, it should be used as a starting point for further investigation.
However, since we live in a culture based on materialism, we often get stuck here. We know how to investigate nature, but we are pretty stumped when it comes to God.

We are used to treating knowledge of God as so subjective that it is beyond investigation—and it is precisely the idea that the knowledge of God is considered subjective rather than objective which has caused Christianity to no longer be taken seriously in the public square. As Christians, we must learn again to treat knowledge of God as real, objective, knowable truth. But in doing so, we must learn to ask different questions.
It is true that when design is inferred, the old questions we were asking may not make sense anymore. But it should open up a new set of questions. How do its purpose and its functionality interact?
How does it fit functionally within the larger plan of the organism? How does it fit aesthetically within the larger plan of the organism? How does the structure interact morally with the plan of creation? What we must do, instead, is to truly treat the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom, and ask a whole new set of questions which the secular world no longer has the vocabulary or the imagination to even ask, much less answer.
The Beginning of Knowledge
Jonathan Bartlett is the director of The Blyth Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to research and education in biology. Jonathan started in computer science, both programming and writing about computer science topics. While studying about genetic illnesses, Jonathan realized the tremendous overlap between computer science and biology, and how much the design patterns that are regularly used in computer science can contribute to understanding how the genome works.
Toward this end, Jonathan started The Blyth Institute, and has published several papers on showing how design thinking can relate to the genome. The book focuses on community independence, independent living, and creating value in your home that is independent of money.
